How Ebb & Flood Works
Water and nutrients (nutrient solution) are pumped through the fill/drain fitting into the grow tray. When the nutrient solution level reaches the top of the overflow fitting, the solution flows back into the reservoir, preventing the tray from overflowing.
After the allotted flood time, usually between 10 and 30 minutes (depending on plant maturity and environment), the pump shuts off and the water and nutrients in the growing tray drain quickly and completely back into the reservoir through the fill/drain fitting and pump. |

The American Hydroponics Fill & Drain Fitting is constructed of strong injection-molded ABS plastic, and accepts 1/2 inch diameter vinyl tubing from the pump. A standard 1 inch paddle bit can be used to drill tray hole, if not pre-drilled.
The American Hydroponics Overflow Fitting is constructed of strong PVC plastic. O-ring seal is constructed of specially selected synthetic materials that resist acids and cracking.
The Overflow Fitting is reversible, allowing for a shallow 1 1/2 inch flood or a deeper 3 inch flood for larger pots.
Fill/Drain Fittings and Overflow Fittings are also available separately. |

Soft Black Vinyl Tubing
Our tubing is UV stabilized for long life when exposed to sunlight. Black tubing is recommended for use in water gardening because it practically disappears underwater, and since sunlight does not penetrate it, algae growth inside the tubing is inhibited. Perfect for hydroponic, irrigation, pond and waterfall applications as well. |
