Digital PAR Meter
PAR stands for Photosynthetically Active Radiation.
Photosynthesis is driven by the number of photons between 400 and 700 nanometers (nm). This is called the Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF) and is measured in micromoles per meters squared per second. PPF meters are commonly called quantum meters because a quantum refers to the amount of energy carried by a photon.
Line quantum sensors are often used to quantify the variable light in greenhouses and below plant canopies because they provide a spatial average.
Sun System PAR par meters are calibrated for both electric light and sunlight. The difference in calibration is close to 10%. A sensor calibrated for fluorescent lamps will read about 10% low in sunlight. A sensor calibrated for sunlight will read about 10% high under fluorescent lamps. The spectral errors are less than 2% for other common electric light sources.
As shown in the graph below, quantum response by definition is from 400 to 700 nm and gives equal emphasis to all photons in that range. The spectral response of the par meter sensor, as well as a typical plant response, are also shown. |

The Sun System PAR Meter measures light samples automatically for a running average or manually for instant readings.
For automatic measurements, use LOG mode. Meter will power on and off automatically to record a measurement every thirty seconds.
For manual measurements, use SMPL mode. Press Sample when you want to take a measurement. Store up to 99 manual measurements.
In LOG mode, every 30 minutes the meter will average the sixty 30-second measurements taken and store the average. Ninety nine 30-minute averaged measurements can be |

stored. Every 48 measurements (making a 24-hour period), the meter will also store a daily total. In addition, ninety nine daily averages can be stored and are available for download only. These measurements are not viewable on the meter LCD. All measurements taken in LOG mode will continue to be stored eliminating the oldest measurement.
The Sun System PAR Meter measures Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF) between 0 and 2,999 ?mol m. It operates off an included CR2320 3 V coin cell battery. Suitable for use in a temperature range between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius.
The LCD display measures 4.5 cm wide by 2.8 cm tall and the overall dimensions of the unit are 12.6 by 7.0 by 2.4 cm.
Available in 2 models, The Integrated Probe Sun System PAR Meter weighs 150 grams while the Sun System PAR Meter with Remote Probe weighs 180 grams. The remote probe on the Sun System PAR Meter with Remote Probe measures 2 meters long. Both units feature a one-year manufacturers warrantly against defects in materials and workmanship. |

This same principle is found in snowflakes, where the geometry of ice crystals reflects light extremely well. ORCA Grow Film provides 94% reflectivity across the full visible light spectrum, which represents the consistently highest reflection versus existing grow film solutions as verified by third party testing.
Unlike other grow films, ORCA Grow Film provides 99% diffuse reflection. The microfiber structure reflects light evenly regardless of its angle in relation to the light source. Isotropic surfice luminence virtually eliminates hot spots and does not require the surface to be hung flat to maintain its reflective quality.
