American Orchid Society's Orchid Web
The MISSION of the AOS in accomplishing its vision of providing leadership in orchids is to increase member satisfaction and participation; extend the knowledge, production, use and appreciation of orchids; collect and disseminate information; support education and research; support the preservation and perpetuation of orchid species; recognize outstanding achievement; organize and maintain an orchid judging system; provide visitors to the International Orchid Center with a positive, enriching experience.
Orchid Conservation Alliance
Protection of native orchid habitats is the goal of the Orchid Conservation Alliance. Until now, there has not been an organization focusing on orchid habitat. Many people work to save pandas, elephants, whales, and California condors, but very few work to save orchids. If we do not act, who will? Fifteen years ago, with other members of the San Diego County Orchid Society, we began selling donated orchid plants to raise money for orchid conservation. Since then, over $100,000 has been raised and spent on more than 40 orchid conservation grants.

The Orchid Mall is a listing of links to various informational and commercial sources about orchids.
The Slipper Orchid Alliance
The Slipper Orchid Alliance is an international organization dedicated to the slipper group of orchids (those with a pouch rather than a lip), including Cypripedium, Mexipedium, Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium, and Selenipedium. The SOA is focused on being a resource center to enhance the under- standing and growing of these captivating flowers and to encouraging conservation in natural habitats and artificial propagation of endangered species. |
