Orchids need repotting when the plant has clearly outgrown the pot - this should be quite apparant to the eye. Another reason to repot is the inevitable breakdown of the old bark. As it degrades it will tend to hold more water and this will have a negative effect on growth. If there is any doubt about when to repot than a period of 12 to 18 months from the last repotting is a good rule of thumb.
Repotting is best carried out in the early part of the growing season but can alos be accomplished at the end of the flowering cycle. Orchid FocusTM Repotting Mix is presently available in a 3 liter bag. Net contents is 3 liters (2.72 Dry U.S. Quarts). |
