Bonide®
Rot-Stop®
Tomato Blossom
End Rot Spray
Tomato blossom-end rot is a disorder caused by a calcium deficiency. The disorder can be aggravated by the application of too much nitrogen fertilizer to tomato plants.
Blossom-end rot appears as a round, brown, sunken area on the end of the tomato fruit opposite the stem. As the fruit ripens, the area turns dry and leathery. The disorder often appears after a period of rapid growth followed by dry conditions, or in periods of heavy rain that causes calcium to leach from the soil.
Mix Bonide® Rot-Stop® Tomato Blossom-End Rot Spray Concentrate at the rate of 1 tablespoon (1/2 fluid ounce) per 1 quart of water. Apply as a thorough cover spray to the foliage and fruit during periods of rapid growth or following excessive rainfall. |
| Apply in early morning or evening when temperatures are lower to avoid foliage burn. Make applications 5 to 7 days apart when conditions are favorable for appearance of the disorder. Regular spray programs are not recommended, as prolonged spraying and rates in excess of those specified can cause foliage burn. Also available in a ready-to-use formula complete with convenient spray bottle. |

Botanicare®
Cal-MagTM Plus
Cal-MagTM Plus is a custom plant supplement designed to help with calcium, magnesium and iron deficiencies in nutrient fertilizer programs. Cal-MagTM Plus serves as a catalyst for the major elements to work in symbiosis with one another to prevent blossom end rot in tomatoes and peppers and tip burn in lettuce.
Cal-MagTM Plus helps to prevent blossom end rot in tomatoes and peppers; tip burn in lettuce and cabbage; dry and withered flower and fruit set; interveinal chlorosis; stunted growth rates and upward leaf curl. Cal-MagTM Plus helps to increase cell division and plant tissue development; flower and fruit sets; water nutrient and carbon dioxide uptake; growth rates and speed to maturity. |
Soil gardens, use 1 teaspoon (5ml) per gallon of water every watering with standard fertilizer. Accelerated formula, use 2 teaspoons per gallon of water every watering with standard fertilizer. Use one to two teaspoons per gallon of water for hydroponic applications. In hydroponics, iron falls out of the solution relatively fast due to the magnetic driven pumps without grounding probes and high levels of dissolved oxygen from air stones and pumps.
Cal-MagTM Plus contains Nitrogen 2.00% (1.94% Nitrate Nitrogen; 0.06% Water-Soluble Organic Nitrogen); Calcium 3.20%; Magnesium 1.2%; Chelated Iron 0.1%. |

Espoma®
GreenSand 0-0-0.1
Greensand, also known as Glauconite, is a mineral mined from natural deposits of glauconite located in the Southern part of New Jersey. These deposits are of marine origin and are composed primarily of iron-potassium silicate, which gives it its bluish green color. Greensand is an excellent soil conditioner due to its unique combination of physical and chemical properties which give the gardener the benefits attributed to both sand and clay materials.
ORGANIC SOURCE OF POTASSIUM
& OTHER TRACE MINERALS
Espoma® Greensand contains 6% total potash, an essential nutrient required by plants that contributes to overall hardiness and good health. This potash solubilizes very slowly and therefore is available to plants at relatively small amounts at any one time. |
Greensand also contains up to 1.2% of phosphate, another essential nutrient, as well as most of the trace minerals normally associated with deposits of marine origin.
LOOSENS CLAY SOILS
The sand-like particle size and rounded shape of greensand prevent the interlocking of soil particles and retard soil compaction. Thus, greensand can be used to loosen high clay soils resulting in a more friable soil condition, better drainage and aeration - all of which are necessary for optimum plant growth.
BINDS SANDY SOILS
The rounded grains of greensand are actually comprised of finely divided clay particles. The cation exchange capacity for these particles is relatively high, which means that they have a greater capacity to hold and exchange nutrients. These particles also give greensand a high water-holding capacity. This enables greensand to bind sandy soils and thereby improve plant growth.
Light Applications: 5 to 10 lbs. per 100 square feet.
Medium Applications: 15 to 30 lbs. per 100 square feet.
Heavy Applications: 40 to 80 lbs. per 100 square feet
Broadcast or spread Espoma® Greensand evenly over the entire area. It is recommended that the greensand be incorporated into the soil before seeding or planting. For application during the growing season use the light rates shown above. |
